External Funding Opportunities
Justice Center researchers have experience working with funders such as NIJ, NSF, NIMH, and others. Click the links below for more information on current solicitations.
Faculty Fellowship Program
To support our faculty affiliates with the time commitment needed to prepare a grant submission, faculty may apply for Justice Center funding to obtain a course buyout (at replacement costs), or summer salary to meet this need.
Grant Preparation Support
The Justice Center supports full-time post-doctoral scholars, research associates and a certified Penn State research administrator to aid faculty members in research and grant submissions. Services provided:
- Grant related research
- Literature reviews
- Statistical analysis
- Proposal preparation
- Budget preparation
- Grant proposal review
Faculty Interest Groups Program
Justice Center staff is available to facilitate faculty participation in policy relevant research that may ultimately lead to external grant funding. This support takes many forms including:
- Monitoring criminal justice research funding opportunities, building relationships with those potential funders, and alerting faculty to these opportunities.
- Facilitating the development of research partnerships of faculty and researchers within the university.
- Developing a list of high priority criminal justice research topics that reflect the strengths of Center staff, and PSU faculty.
- Assisting with the organization of meetings, symposium speakers or workshops that encourage the creation of a research interest group, or crystallize a research idea into a research grant proposal.
Justice Center Travel Assistance Program
Most faculty members receive funding from their departments for academic professional meetings. More difficult to obtain is funding for travel to practitioner conferences, or other venues that either provide information to the wider community, or build relationships with potential research partners and funding providers. In line with our focus on the engaged university, faculty may apply for travel support, to assist in activities directly related to educating the wider community, building relationships with external constituencies, or the pursuit of funding opportunities.
To discuss these opportunities, please contact the Center’s Managing Director, Gary Zajac (email@example.com) for assistance.
