Biography:
Courtney joined the Justice Center in September 2012. She earned her Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Roger Williams University is Bristol, RI. Her thesis investigated the relationship between exposure to familial violence and rapists’ offense level of force. While at Roger Williams, Ms. Meyer also conducted an independent study investigating laypeople’s perceptions of psychopathy which she presented at the annual American Psychology-Law Society’s (AP-LS) Conference in March 2012 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As an undergraduate at Lock Haven University, she conducted her independent study at SCI Rockview comparing rapists’ and robbers’ perceptions of women and their parental rearing. Her findings were presented at the annual Association for Psychological Science (APS) Conference in May 2010 in Boston, and published in the Spring 2011 issue of Psi Chi’s Journal of Undergraduate Research. Lastly, while at Lock Haven University, Ms. Meyer conducted a study on the perceptions of the motivations of the intra-racial rapist for her honor’s augmentation paper, findings she presented at the annual APS Conference in May 2009 in San Francisco, CA.
Courtney is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality at Widener University. She plans to complete the Sexuality Education track in the program where she will be trained to educate others about human sexuality.
